Mysterious Al emerged in the early 2000s during the street art boom, gaining notoriety alongside contemporaries like D*face, Banksy, and PMH. His wall paintings, paste-ups, and street installations quickly made him a prominent figure in the art world.
Over the years, Mysterious Al’s work has evolved significantly. His current painted ‘portraits’ draw inspiration from ancient tribal masks, reimagined with vibrant contemporary colors. These pieces are striking and often humorous at first glance, but a closer look reveals a deeper, more vulnerable or melancholy side. There’s always something behind a smile.
