Introducing Our October Artist of the Month: Dreaming Clouds | Cheryl Heap
Whether it was paper, walls or her mother’s favourite pants, nothing was safe from her artistic expression.
About Dreaming Clouds
Cheryl was born in Malaysia and grew up with a passion for drawing, sketching and colouring. She could not resist the allure of a blank surface and her natural inclination was to transform mundane surfaces into vibrant tapestries of creation.
After school, she moved to Melbourne to study architecture, where she learned how to design and build some of the world’s most inspiring spaces. Her range of work has evolved her as an artist, and she has developed a unique style that combines elements of architecture, geometry, nature and fantasy.
Cheryl likes to experiment with different mediums and techniques, and she enjoys working on both small and large scale projects. She has created illustrations for books, magazines and websites, murals for cafes, schools and festivals, installations for events and exhibitions, and animations for videos and games.
Cheryl’s artworks are full of colour, movement and emotion. She draws inspiration from her dreams, travels, cultures and experiences, and she likes to infuse her work with positive messages and meanings.
